How did the Lamb Interview become the “What Are We Eating?” Interview?

If you haven’t read the story yet, here’s a quick explanation. Back in the summer of 2021, our colleagues Nemanja (Project Manager) and Marko (Software Developer) came up with the idea over a lamb lunch: why not conduct job interviews over a meal like this? They even came up with the perfect name for it — the Lamb Interview.

We have to admit, we loved the name. After all, “who would call a lunch with job candidates a Lamb Interview?” We were sure it would be a hit precisely because it was so unexpected. However, we wanted to organize an interview that, when we published the first post, any potential candidate could see themselves in.

And so, after considering names like “Where Are We Eating?”, “Food Interview,” and “Where Should We Go for Lunch?”, we eventually landed on “What Are We Eating?” Interview.

Short and simple: we ask you what you want to eat — whatever that may be. Because we want both you and us to feel comfortable and to do something we probably haven’t done before.

How does the “What Are We Eating?” Interview work?

If you make it through the HR and technical interviews, the next step is lunch or dinner with our HR representative, the developer who conducted your technical interview, and our CEO. You’ll be able to ask them anything you’re curious about — the company, its culture, benefits, the potential project, or whatever else comes to mind.

You choose the restaurant, and we’ll agree on a date and time together. Of course, if you’d rather not go out with this particular crew, even though we promise to keep a low profile, we’ll understand 😁. In that case, we’ll order some food and hang out at the office instead.

We’re Hosting Interviews in May Too!

Since the idea of the “What Are We Eating?” Interview seems to have gone down well with many people — and with us too — we decided to keep the “rule” going in May.

So, anyone who applies by the end of April or in May, gets invited to an interview, and makes it through the HR and technical interviews gets to join us for a meal. Of course, if they’re up for it 😁.

One important thing to mention: we all know interviews can sometimes take a while to schedule, usually because finding a suitable time for the candidate can take some coordination. So it’s entirely possible that some of the food interviews will take place in early June.
